WHEATON, IL — Longtime Wheaton City Attorney James Knippen will be honored with a reception Feb. 6 as he heads into retirement.

Knippen has been the city’s attorney for 20 years as part of the firm Walsh, Knippen and Cetina. The firm itself has represented Wheaton for 40 years, an update on the city’s website said.

“Serving as the legal face for the City of Wheaton, Jim Knippen has dedicated an extraordinary amount of effort providing counsel for City staff and the City Council,” City Manager Michael Dzugan said in a statement.

Dzugan added, “His work is impeccably researched, reasoned and supported, and I appreciate his decades of service to our community in this role.”
