An attorney who was convicted of defrauding the federal government out of almost $8 million in Paycheck Protection Program loans can’t evade disbarment, the Georgia Supreme Court ruled Wednesday.
Chandra McNeil Norton pleaded guilty in November 2020 to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, a felony, for causing about $7.8 million in losses to the PPP program. She used the funds for her own personal expenses and did not self-report her conviction to the State Bar of Georgia, according to the state’s highest court.
