A Chicago lawyer failed in his appeal to reverse a $700,000 judgment against him in a legal malpractice case because he didn’t follow state civil procedures, a unanimous Illinois appellate panel held Thursday.
Robert C. Goldberg, counsel at Schoenberg Finkel Newman & Rosenberg LLC, argued the trial court making the award improperly admitted evidence. First District Illinois Appellate Court Justice Mary Katherine Rochford wrote that Goldberg failed to file a post-trial motion raising his claim about the evidence. “[A]s the admission of the purportedly improper evidence was not shown to be prejudicial, we affirm,” she wrote for the panel.
